The Benefits of a Hydropool Hot Tub or Swim Spa
The Hydropool brand was founded in Canada as a commercial swimming pool company in 1970, before transitioning to hot tubs, and subsequently swim spas, by 1980. Hydropool now sell our unique hot tubs and swim spas in over 40 countries worldwide.
Being a Canadian brand gave us a head start in designing our spas to be the most energy efficient in the world because if they weren’t, our original Canadian market wouldn’t buy them! More on that later.
Hydropool Benefits in Hot Tubs and Swim Spas
Our core principles are to offer our customers:
- Maximum energy efficiency
- Superior hydrotherapy treatments
- The World’s Only Self-Cleaning hot tubs and swim spas (patented by Hydropool)
Let’s dig a bit deeper into these principles and tell you what we’re doing to ensure we complete our mission.
Energy Efficiency Designed in Canada for Canadian Winters
Did you know, hot tubs are the best in winter?
Nothing beats climbing into your warm hot tub for a relaxing hydromassage on a midwinter’s day. That’s why you’ll find many hot tubs outdoors at ski resorts across the world.
A big problem for most hot tubs on the market is that the cold air temperature can lead to rapid heat loss, causing spas to struggle to stay up to temperature.
If they do manage to keep up, they cost a fortune to do so!
That’s where our spas shine. They’re Canadian.
In Canadian winters, air temperature frequently drops below -20 degrees C.
As an emerging hot tub manufacturer in Canada in 1980, we had to solve the problem of skyrocketing energy usage before we could even think about surviving in the market and selling hot tubs year-round.
That’s why we had to make it our mission to design a hot tub that is the most energy efficient in the world.
That was over 40 years ago.
As technology has evolved, we have kept up with the latest innovations to maintain that our hot tubs and swim spas are designed with the same goal today.
Understandably, many people ask us how much it costs to run a hot tub. In particular, how many kWh a hot tub uses per day.
In the linked article above, you will find the answer, with some detail about why our self-cleaning spas with superior hydrotherapy are still cheaper than a daily coffee!
Our industry-leading insulation traps heat and recycles waste heat productively. It is also excellent at keeping the cold out.
Meanwhile, our low amperage Evergreen pumps ensure that the system doesn’t have to work very hard to stay up to temperature.
Our spas are designed for maximum energy efficiency in Canadian winters. Handling a British winter (no matter how miserable they can be) is a stroll in the park.
Superior Home Hydrotherapy
The second pillar of excellence in a Hydropool spa is our dedication to creating the most complete home hydrotherapy experience in the world.
Hot tub hydrotherapy has a wide range of known benefits, such as:
- Rehabilitating injured muscles and joints by increasing blood flow
- Relieving muscle tension and pain
- Improving mental health and relieving stress
- Boosting your immune system with improved circulation and lymph system efficiency
- And many more
Most people know the benefits of a hot tub/swim spa, but what makes a Hydropool different?
The crucial part of reaping the many rewards of home hydrotherapy treatments is having the equipment capable of delivering them.
Of course, there is a place in the market for cheap spas that give you a warm bubble bath in your garden. But if you’re looking for a complete massage treatment that helps you move and sleep well, they just won’t cut the mustard!
Each Hydropool hot tub and swim spa comes with up to 11 different types of jets as standard. They aren’t just for show either; each one is strategically placed to deliver a unique massage to the areas that need unique treatment.
For example, you wouldn’t want a big P-Class jet blasting the centre of your neck or your spine, but having one getting to work in the deep tissues beneath your shoulder blades is going to get to the core of your tension and tightness and leave you feeling relieved and free.
Most jets in your Hydropool spa are screwable and replaceable by hand, so if you ever feel like customising your treatment for your particular aches and pains, you can get your spa set up to how you like it in seconds.
Hydropool Zone Therapy
Every Hydropool spa features 4 zones that offer a massage that targets specific parts of your body.
1 . The Core Zone works close to your vertebrates to penetrate muscle tissue that helps contribute to spine function and helps treat and prevent headaches that work their way up your spine to lead to discomfort.
As a result of 21st-century living, many of us don’t quite have an ideal body posture. This eventually leads to many muscles overcompensating muscles that become inactive over time. The Core Zone not only helps relax tight muscles, but also works to awaken muscles that have become dormant by increasing blood flow.
2 . The Overall Body Zone does what it says on the tin! From your neck and shoulders all the day down to your ankles, this zone relaxes your body and improves circulation in your legs to make them feel lighter after a long day.
3 . The Upper Body Zone activates your upper back, neck, and shoulder muscles. This zone is perfect for elminating tension and tightness that we store in our upper body after accumulating it over a long period of time.
That’s right – that permanent shrug and tightness you’ve got going on in your shoulders… you don’t need to deal with that!
4 . The Reflexology Zone. Who knew a foot massage was so important to body function? This Zone activates your foot arch muscles that take a beating every day when going about our daily lives. We might be aware of foot massages being a thing, but it’s not the first thing we think of when we imagine getting a massage that helps us move well and put our minds at rest.
When you consider how many steps your feet take in a day, over various terrains and up and down flights of stairs, it won’t be a surprise to you that getting a foot massage in your warm spa after a long day can be one of the most pleasurable parts of owning a Hydropool spa.
AND… you don’t have to have anyone else touching your feet. Bonus!

Another aspect of Hydropool hydrotherapy that separates us from the rest is our built-in, customisable wellness programs.

The World’s Only Self-Cleaning Hot Tubs and Swim Spas
Patent-protected and no gimmicks.
Hydropool’s 6-stage self-cleaning system uses swimming pool filtration – remember, we started by manufacturing commercial pools – to filter 100% of the water every 15 minutes (45 minutes in swim spas).
This process reduces chemical usage by 50% and allows you to drain and refill your hot tub every 6 months, rather than the traditional recommendation of 3 months.
Maintaining your spa is probably the worst part of owning one. Our patented self-cleaning spas make it easy for you to keep your spa water crystal clear and safe for your family while creating more time for what matters in your life.
Worried about any additional energy usage from this system?
This isn’t something we dreamed up overnight.
Our self-cleaning innovation doesn’t forget our ambition of creating the world’s most energy-efficient hot tubs and swim spas. For decades we have worked tirelessly on the art of minimising energy usage by utilising every design aspect possible to maximise the system’s efficiency.
